From the moment you arrive at the beach the adrenalin begins to pump, with the revving of powerful outboard motors which have been checked and warmed up to ensure a safe race against the waves to the back line. You are given a life jacket and told to hold on, you climb aboard and suddenly there you are watching and waiting for the break of the surf. The motors roar and you snake your way through the danger zone. |

The skipper stops the boat, radios in, another safe launch - and now you have an amazing ride out to the Protea Reef, seven kilometers off shore. You are told to keep your eyes on the sea as at any moment you can be surprised by dolphins, whales, flying fish, giant manta rays, turtles and even marlin and Spinner Sharks leaping from the depths. Every day is different and you don't want to miss the spectacle.

The sea is not just a mass of waves and water - it's alive! Approximately 30 minutes after your launch you are on Protea Reef and the Skipper and mate start trawling lures. Most times before you know what's happening, the reels start screaming, the tuna's hooked and you are given the rod to bring in the unwilling prize.
